Reconfiguring a floor plan to create a stunning modern oasis
This stately Montclair residence is home to an eclectic family with a flare for European-inspired touches. The client contacted RTH to tour the home and discuss their vision for a few of the bathrooms in the home.
In this renovation, the clients wished to live in the home while construction was taking place, so they asked if RTH would be willing to renovate three bathrooms, but complete only the master suite first, followed by the additional bathrooms once the master was complete.
RTH was happy to undertake the renovation one bathroom at a time, so we commenced the renovation focusing on the master bathroom. Prior to the renovation, the master suite had an awkward layout with the master leading into an oversized vestibule that opened up into a tiny master bath. As a result, RTH did several renditions of floor plans for the clients, and eventually reconfigured the space into a floorplate that would be capable of holding a large master bathroom, closet and entry vestibule.
As construction commenced, RTH learned that the client had a clear vision for the bathroom that manifested itself as a stunning modern oasis as progress pushed forward. Large gray tiles accentuated a sleek white bathtub, a floating vanity, and chrome fixtures throughout. The closet received a new window that allowed the light to stream into the space. A new custom closet was built, highlighted by light-toned wood and brass accents that display the client’s stunning collection of clothes.
Towards the end of the renovation, the clients and RTH decided to tackle the master bedroom as well, so a new custom bookcase was built, the floors were refinished, and the room was painted for a fresh new feel.
