Simplicity makes this airy custom home a stunning beauty

Located just minutes away from downtown Ridgewood, this custom residence sits on one of Ridgewood’s main thoroughfares, boasting a plethora of grand, historic homes. Prior to construction, the lot held a small split level residence that stuck out like a sore thumb in the community. When the property went to market, it was clear that the land on which the prior home sat was situated perfectly for a custom home.

The clients came to RTH with the dream of building their dream home in the suburbs.  Coming from city-life, they were in search of space, privacy, walking distance to a downtown, and access to the city via the train. When they stumbled upon this lot, the realized that it had all the characteristics they were hoping for, and purchased the previous home site on scene. Once purchasing the property, they engaged RTH to help them build the home of their dreams.

After working with RTH and the architect, the clients set out to build a 5,400 square foot home that blended a historic feel with modern features. The end result was a stunning residence that boasts a blend of white-painted cedar clapboard siding and cedar shingles. Accentuated by some black details and front door, when you pass by the home, it is difficult to miss its stunning beauty and simplicity.

Inside, the home’s modern flares continue with pops of brass and neutral tones mixed with modernized paneling and trim details. Some outstanding features include a gorgeous herringbone entry foyer, a designer kitchen with a full-blown coffee bar, a second floor gym, and bedrooms and baths uniquely tailored to the clients tastes. In the rear, a covered patio boasts a fireplace and television for entertaining, with a serene and lush backyard suited for children playing and upscale parties alike.

The openness of the interior allows for an airiness, yet homey feel that has made the clients incredibly happy with their decision to build their custom home with RTH Building Company.
