An open, serene space of clean lines, natural woods and soft whites
Perched high in the hills of Montclair this beautiful white Colonial is afforded amazing views of New York City on many level of this multi-level home.
Previously being friends of RTH Building Co., the clients came to RTH because they trusted the attention to detail and vision for stunning work when undertaking their complete kitchen, first floor and bathroom makeover. The hope was to attain a Scandinavian inspired pallet of clean lines, natural woods, soft whites, and a focus on the natural beauty surrounding the home.
The renovation commenced with RTH Building Co. designing several renovation schemes to present to the client. The hope was to open the once closed off kitchen to the dining room, while also extending the living space to the outdoors with a rear deck extension. While completing this renovation, additional scope including to bathrooms, flooring, painting and some custom doors was added to round out this gorgeous home.
Once a floor plan had been decided, RTH went to work opening up the space by knocking down walls, installing a large steel beam to make and open kitchen and dining area, and then installing large glass panels and doors off the rear of the home that would open up onto the new deck. The new wood and glass panels were built replicate steel windows with a modern white flare. The same design of the windows was mirrored in the cabinet design in the kitchen.
Pushing for a more Scandinavian design, the client did a bleached clear coat on the floors that lightened the interiors throughout. To accentuate this feel, the walls were painted a Decorator’s white, the cabinets a light taupe color, and a gorgeous Calcutta marble was installed. Small accents of brass, woods, and black sophisticated the sun-drenched space fit for entertaining.
