Modernized living meets historic integrity
Perched atop a gently rolling lawn sits this lovely Edwardian home with an open front porch and sweeping views of NYC. Rich with architectural details and spacious rooms throughout, this gracious, warm, and inviting historic home is the quintessence of historic architecture and craft.
With a home as rich in history and character as this one, the clients were looking to keep that historic integrity, but modernize some of their most commonly used spaces – namely the master bathroom and the kitchen, dining and living spaces. In preparation, the clients engaged an architect that embraced clean, modern lines, and designed a stunning addition and interior renovation. RTH Building Co. was brought on to execute the vision with the highest quality construction and aesthetics.
To attain the transformation the clients were looking to achieve, RTH Building Co. commenced the renovation by ripping the back of the home off and framing what would soon be an addition full of modern glass and black accents. Inside, main areas of the home like the kitchen, bathrooms, studies, and mudroom were completely gutted in preparation for a full renovation.
By the renovation’s end, RTH Building Co. had completely transformed the feel of this old historic home. The new addition held a large, sun-filled living and dining room, adjacent to a stunning kitchen with soaring ceilings, cerused wood cabinets, stunning white stone, and a high-end appliance package. With 10 foot glass panels surrounding this space, the client truly gets a sense of indoor and outdoor living, as their backdrop is the beautifully landscaped backyard and patio.
In addition to the main living space, the master suite received a matching modern renovation, boasting a high-end master shower, soaker tub, and modern custom vanity and closet. In addition to the main rooms, RTH painted the entire home both inside and out, and made many cosmetic updates throughout. The end result; a refreshed historic home seamlessly modernized for the happy clients.
